Leave Hyperfix bandage on tattoo for 24 to 72 hours. Some swelling, heat and fluid build up is normal and it will collect in the bubble of the bandage.
The bandage is water resistant but not waterproof. Do not soak or submerge it in water (no swimming, hot tub or bath). Showering is fine, but keep showers under 10 minutes as steam can loosen it's hold.
When it is time to remove the bandage, it is easiest in the shower or under warm water. Roll it back from the corners and remove it slowly. Immediately after removing the bandage, hand wash and clean your tattoo with unscented soap and warm running water.
While cleaning, sometimes it is necessary to gently apply pressure to remove any dried fluid (blood, plasma, excess pigment).
Once you've removed the bandage, do not reapply it.
Let it air dry or use clean, single-use paper towels to pat dry tattoo. Do not wipe.
Wait 24 hours after removing the bandage before using unscented moisturizer (Lubriderm, Aveeno, St. Ives are commonly used brands). If it stings, wash it off.
For the next 2 weeks, do not soak or submerge your tattoo in water while it is healing.
It is best not to touch the tattoo during healing process unless you are cleaning it or applying moisturizer and always wash hands thoroughly with hot water and soap before handling your fresh tattoo.
Some scabbing or light peeling will happen and flake off during healing over the next 2-3 weeks. When it dries out, it may get itchy. Do not scratch, pick at, or remove any scabbing.
After all scabs have flaked off, the fresh skin is delicate during this stage, and it may appear slightly shiny. The tattoo will also naturally fade slightly as it settles into your skin.
Fresh tattoos are very sensitive to sun, and UV rays can have a negative effect on healing and the way ink holds in your skin. Avoid exposing tattoo to direct sunlight for 2-3 weeks. Once it is healed, to protect your tattoo from the sun, use a high SPF sunscreen.
